Last week I got to warm up a little. Yay me, since January has been going on for 5 years… We went to Palm Beach for a few days and it was really, really nice. AND WARM. 🌞 Even so, the weather was chillier this year than my two previous visits. We stayed at The Breakers. This was the third time I have been, so I have pictures spanning the trips. See the beautiful details of the hotel and grounds, and see what I packed for the trip. Then you can shop the trip…

The Breakers as it is currently, was built in 1926, after the original and its’ replacement both burned down. It was developed by Henry Flagler, of Standard Oil fame. The Villa Medici in Rome was the inspiration for the building style. In 1927, newly rebuilt, The Breakers was praised as “without a doubt, one of the most magnificent, successful examples of a palatial winter resort.” The gorgeous building and grounds will soon be a century old.

75 Italian craftsmen were brought to paint the gorgeous ornate ceilings throughout the main floor.

The stunning lobby at The Breakers. You can see jaw dropping hand painted ceiling that runs throughout the first floor and the enormous floral arrangement that greets you as you walk in. Following, are two others that I have photographed on my visits…

Floral Arrangment in Breakers Entry

This one is from my 2013 visit. These are all fresh flowers, foliage and branches, and are done every Thursday morning. I got to see this year’s from start to finish and meet the creative souls that do it each week…

Stay Tuned - It will be this week’s #tgif….

Walking To The Pools…

The Pool at the Breakers

There are 4 pools, a beach and 6 hot tubs there. (And I DID have a pedicure and my toenails are pale pink. No feet judgement…)

Enjoying the pool

There is a residential street on the property, behind the pool, with about 10 houses on it. They all look to be older construction. I seem to remember that the hotel manager lives in one.

The Breakers

This one was getting some renovations.

Evening at The Breakers

While in Palm Beach, we ate at the Seafood Bar in the hotel, Renato’s, Flagler’s Steakhouse, and Henry’s. All four were excellent! I highly recommend.

I also went to the Serena & Lily shop and the Amanda Lindroth boutique while I was there. The Breaker’s gift shop has great stuff as well. (For those of you in Richmond, it’s the FL version of Posh!)

Hope you enjoyed this post. I will post this year’s floral arrangement pic on Friday, with step by step info.

In My Suitcase…

It was frigid before we left, it was chilly one night and we were coming home to cold. I took a J Crew Cocoon Coat, and this puffer vest from Pretty Rugged. (I got it for Christmas and I love it.)

In my suitcase

I wore this down on the plane. Jewelry my own (old), Athleta Sculptek Jeans (mine are not Ultra skinny), Modern Citizen sweater, a Gap white tee, and J Crew snake mules (old) Similar

In My Suitcase

This was for the chilly night. Everlane jeans, Boden cashmere sweater, (Similar) earrings my own (old), and Madewell Gemma Mules.

Bathing Suits and Coverups

Garnet Hill and Boden (sold out) suits, H&M White Dress/Coverup, and J Crew Coverup (old). Birkenstock Arizona Sandals.

In My Suitcase

It was warmer this night, so no sweater or jacket. J Crew Mock s/s tee (similar), Maeve Kimono (old), black J Jill Wearever wide leg pant, my own silver jewelry. I forgot to add the shoes here - I wore open toed suede booties.

In My Suitcase

It was nice and warm on our last night, so I wore this two piece knit set, a boxy s/s top over wide leg pants. (I got it at a boutique on a trip.) J Crew flats (old), Brackish Feather Ears, and a Turkish Towel from my girlfriend Becca, the towel lady.
