Master Bath Reno
This is the painting that I bought in 2014 at the High Point furniture market, as inspiration for my bathroom someday…
I’ve shown you the bedroom and closet redo. Now I wanted to show you the bathroom I waited 28 years for… I didn’t want to put it on the renovation list because no one ever saw it but us. It was like a dirty little secret. 😬
I talked about self-care yesterday. I think maybe it was a sign of how bad I am at that, that I waited for so long to spend the time and money on something that only Chip and I ever see. (Poor Chip get’s tangled up in my lack of self-compassion sometimes.) He was really tired of going to beautiful hotels on business trips, and coming home to our horror show of a master bathroom/closet.
So watch below, as my contractor (my brother) and myself (with help from my very talented friend - you know who you are…) transformed that little corner of our world. And as I have said before, Chip let me do what I wanted.
So let’s start the $%&^$# show! Oh wait…i apologize for the crummy pictures - these were taken before any blog possibility was known…
Let’s move on, shall we?
When they took the subfloor up, the original cast iron pipes were failing, and that’s what that tiny little spot on the kitchen ceiling was. We’d been wondering about that…
SURPRISE!
THEY HAD TO CUT HOLES IN THE KITCHEN CEILING AND THE EXTERIOR SIDING to get to the situation. Then the kitchen ceiling had to be painted and siding had to be replaced and painted…before we did much in the bathroom…good times…
We came into the bedroom 18” and came into the closet 12” to make the bathroom as big as possible, in the existing footprint.
Now we’re getting somewhere…
The Reveal
Mirrors and lighting are up, wallpaper and painting is done. I debated over the wallpaper with the floor tile, but in the end I went with it, because they are just different enough in scale, and more is more for me. I feel like there’s enough white to give a breather to the space.
How it lives today…
Thanks again to Ridgeline Construction. The guys do gorgeous work.
