Easy Winter Bouquet & Posies They'll Love❣️💕
The inspiration for this arrangement came from last year’s My French Country Home, one of my favorite magazines. Since its the dead of winter, I got all of these flowers at the grocery store, except from some greenery from the yard (All from Wegman’s - Trader Joes had NOTHING! I was shocked!)
Here is my inspiration photo. I looked for anything remotely like these flowers and only found some baby blue eucalyptus, so I improvised. Mine looks more like Valentines…I love the wintry cool look of this one though.
Here’s my container. An antique compote.
I stuck a flower frog in the compote with the sticky floral clay shown below. Then I made a grid with floral tape on the top, to help hold the stems upright.
The first thing I put in the arrangement was some sticks from the yard. I cut them from a huge dormant spirea bush. I save the odd pieces to add in the end.
I next added 5 stems of pink and white/pink lilies. These are rose lilies, which are double lilies. I want this to be an asymmetrical shape.
The lilies on the left will open up in a day or so and then will not stick out so far!
Next I added five stems of pink gerbera daisies. I clustered them in one area, mostly center-left.
Next I added five more gerbera daisies in cream with pink and black centers, on the center-right side.
I then added my other item from the yard - inkberry bush, which is the greenery tucked around the flowers. This fills it out and hides the mechanics.
Now I’ve added some dark pink flowers, to add some more height and interest. I honestly don’t know the name of these guys! Do you?
But it’s still asymmetrical looking and that’s what I’m going for.
It’s turning into more of a Valentine’s arrangement, and that’s ok.
Now I’ve added some of the stalks with tiny daisies - a bunch with 5 stems. To be honest, I did not buy enough and they were not tall enough. But we’re doing quick and easy, right?
And lastly, I added the eucalyptus stems (two bunches - 8 stems total) and the last branches where there were none, lower in the arrangement.
This is a three sided arrangement, meant to be seen from the sides and the front.
But even so, when the back looks bare like this, I like to fill it in with my greenery and whatever is left lying around.
There, that looks a little better.
When those two lilies on the left open up, it will make more sense. In the end, it did not end up anything like Sharon Santoni’s wintry arrangement last year in MFCH, but that’s ok!
There you go - all from the grocery store and some branches and greens from the yard.
Since it isn’t great timing to have ladies for lunch, or even go out for lunch - a lot of my girlfriends are either traveling or sick! - I just made some little fresh posies for them and will deliver them to whoever is here, this week! This was also an easy little activity to bring a smile!
I got some (2) small bouquets and some (3) tulip bunches, when I was at the store.
I divided them up evenly, into 10 bunches, put rubber bands around them and evened the ends up.
I wrapped the bunches in wet paper towels and parchment paper.
Folded the ends up.
I added paper doilies around the parchment paper and wrapped them like a sandwich wrap!
I designed some tags on Canva for this little project.
Now I’m just adding a tag with twine.
And that does it for today’s post! Be sure to subscribe if you have not, to be entered in the cozy Posh Box giveaway!
